Being loved is like this:
“I love you, Mom,”
and like this:
“Arrrhgrrh! You never let me do anything!”
and like this:
“Mom, I don’t ever want you to die.”
Being loved is like wind off the ocean,
harsh and constant,
invigorating and powerfully wild.

I like the immediacy of “like this” repeated in the first stanza. It really gets my attention. Comparing being loved to the “wind off the ocean” is beautiful and powerful. I love the 3 different voices of the children. Sounds so familiar when mine were young. Ahhh…the little ones…Thank you for sharing. Enjoy!
