Hello, Yoga Friends,
Our Spring Session will officially come to a close following this Thursday morning’s Gentle Yoga and Chair Yoga classes. Thank you all so much for your dedication to your practice.
We have a happy addition to our summer schedule: July Weekend Workshops, “Yoga Fundamentals,” a great opportunity for those who have never experienced a yoga class, or those relatively new to yoga practice. Click or tap here for full details and descriptions. Consider passing this information along to anyone you think might be interested. And please know that if your friend or family member wants to attend but is hesitant and doesn’t want to go alone, you may join in at no cost. This way you can reap the benefits of “starting over” while being a great support partner!
If you’ve never attended an outdoor yoga class, consider trying Yoga on the Lawn this year. It’s not your typical studio experience. Practicing outside
helps us let go of the need to orchestrate everything “just so.” Instead, we step into nature, and she is in control: the wind blows when it wants, the sun shines, the clouds cast shadows, the temperature changes, the deer peek out from behind the trees, and an ant or two find their way beneath our downward dogs. I’m reminded each year, “Ah, yes, this is Yoga Practice!” With no walls or ceiling to set our boundaries, the sky inspires us to expand and open ourselves up to possibility; and the uneven ground beneath our feet challenges us to embrace “imperfection,” to laugh and to stop taking ourselves so darn seriously. Yoga outside is one of life’s simple joys. (If you would like to receive text notifications regarding Yoga on the Lawn cancellations, please click or tap here for sign up instructions.)
Finally, we might have a Yoga for Life Benefit Class opportunity open up sometime this summer, so keep your eye out for another addition. Hospice of North Central Ohio and the Landree Rennpage ’03 Memorial Scholarship Fund are both very thankful for your generous gifts earlier this Spring.
I’ll leave you with my current favorite prayer, and offer faith and hope that all will be well with your soul.
The Catholic Yogi
“My Lord God,
I have no idea where I am going.
I do not see the road ahead of me.
I cannot know for certain where it will end.
Nor do I really know myself,
and the fact that I think that I am following your will
does not mean that I am actually doing so.
But I believe that the desire to please you
does in fact please you.
And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing.
I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire.
And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road
though I may know nothing about it.
Therefore will I trust you always,
though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death,
I will not fear, for you are ever with me,
and you will never leave me to face my perils alone. ”
