  • On a Walk

    This fresh buckeye shines, just cracked from its prickly shell. You glow, giddy with discovery bouyant with purpose knowing only this, now, air, wind, leaves, tricycle, sidewalk, pedals. I watch the back of your hand move sideways across your lips, your fingers wipe the itch from your eyes, your lids blink and your nose wrinkles.…

  • Come dormant season

    The orange of autumn rests in drops along the dewy grass, a cover of grounded sunset beneath the baring branches. These dead leaves, grounded stars, past light reminding me of constancy and change, of beginnings and agains.

  • Gifts

    My girls bring flowers they pick from around our brick house, sprigs of lavender, blooms of crysanthemum, leaves of weigela.  I fill the clear glass jar with indigo, orange, and burgundy. Like God on my sill it sits, gifts from gifts.
