Just Weight

The balances are delicate;
striking and tipping and
striking and falling
in deep enough to keep waiting,
living for the moments
we are each other’s counter weight,
each other’s perch,
each other’s harmony
and song of songs
when devotion sings
and selflessness outweighs pride,
humility offsets righteousness
and we sync ourselves to
the striking balance of delight,
the just weights of sacrifice.

  1. I like the “just weights of sacrifice.” That we are “each other’s counter weight” is great. I like how the perch, harmony and songs follow. The weights and counter weights are felt as I read this. The balancing is “delicate” is it not?!!! Ongoing and profound. Love the title. This was fun to read and insightful! Thanks for sharing….Happy Easter!!!

      Thank you; this one was hard work. The prompt was a love poem without cliché or the word love. Balance had been weighing on my mind lately, no pun intended. It’s nice when I poem comes together after hours choosing just the right words. Happy Easter to you!
