I am so focused on loving
the people in my home through service
(cooking, cleaning, compromising)
that I forget to let those darling people
love me.

It is time
to be accessible,
to lie on the floor,
to be within reach,
to slow down,
to sit and play.

It is time to be lovable.

Tonight it is difficult to be loving.
Everyone is tired but no one is sleeping.
Some of us are sneezing
and some have eyes that are red and itching.

I know from far away our plight is laughable.
But up close it is hard to even be loveable
tonight.
