Fruits

I crawl into the deep
of our humanity cracking open
and practice cracking open
and being split.

I eat the fruit
and become the fruit
and practice becoming whole
over these years of our growing.

I love crawling “into the deep of our humanity…” The “cracking open” and the seed/fruit/growing metaphor work wonderfully and carry the poem along to the wholeness at the end. I especially like the practicing becoming whole. The structure lends itself to the “split” sense, like two halves of a seed or ….so many things! So glad to see this post!! Bravo friend!!!

Thank you, Cynthia. This was an odd piece for ne…..it sat in the drafts folder in pieces for a few months….I appreciate your encouragement. I worry about it being abstract, but sometimes that’s the only way to get something out… thanks again!
