Yoga News

Hi, Yoga Friends,

Winter is on its way out, and thankfully we’ve got a few more yoga classes to get us through.  Visit the current schedule for offerings.  The second session begins Monday, March 5.

The Spring Schedule for 2018 is posted, and I’m happy to note two new opportuities:  Body Prayer, A Moving Meditation,  March 30th at Noon, and Chair Yoga, a 6 week session beginning April 19th.  Our old favorites will continue to meet with a slight time change for our Gentle Yoga class:  during spring session Gentle Yoga will meet from 9:15am – 10:15am on Thursdays.

We also have Yoga for Life classes that will benefit Hospice of North Central Ohio, as well as the Landree Rennpage ’03 Memorial Scholarship Fund.  Two great opportuities to give back to our local community.

Select any of the above highlighted links for descriptions and full details.  And feel free to pass this along to anyone you think might benefit.

Thank you, as always, for your continued interest in yoga.

With gratitude and good wishes for a happy practice,

The Catholic Yogi

Yoga Updates

Greetings Fellow Yogis,

This week we are on a break between Winter sessions with classes resuming the week of March 5th and finishing with week of Mar 19th.  Check out the Current Class Schedule for details.

I’m currently working on the Spring Schedule (with the welcome addition of Chair Yoga) and will post it soon.  Spring classes will begin the week of April 16th, with Benefit Classes being held April 9th and 12th.

In the meantime, I encourage you to hop on your mat for a happy home practice.  Resist the urge to pressure yourself into practicing for a full 60 or 90 minutes.  Start small.  Really small.  Shoot for 5 minutes and see how you feel. You might find that’s just the right amount, or, that you’d really love to do more.  Remember that the length of the practice isn’t the most important thing.  What matters is the quality of your practice, and whether or not you’re enjoying it.

You can move and breathe the way we do in class, check-in with your favorite online yoga teachers, or get creative and listen to your body, making up your own sequence of poses, breathing practices, and meditation.

I know how difficult it can be to practice at home (believe me), but there really is a joy to it.  Keep it light and simple.  Laugh when you’re interrupted (all fourteen times), and try not to take it all so seriously.

Be well, Be well, Be well.

Happy Practicing!

Diamond Cut Glass

It slipped from my hand to the granite counter top
and split jaggedly in two thick, heavy pieces.

Everything I think I know tells me it’s Grandma’s dish,
though I don’t remember scooping mixed nuts from its smooth curve
or picking candy from inside its pointed armor.

When it cracked, I did too.

In the evening I rinsed that day-old sink of handwashables
and thought about the recent past.
It was a heavy day, full of life, death,
and commitments.

It must’ve been the thinking.
It’s never about the dish.
