The balances are delicate;
striking and tipping and
striking and falling
in deep enough to keep waiting,
living for the moments
we are each other’s counter weight,
each other’s perch,
each other’s harmony
and song of songs
when devotion sings
and selflessness outweighs pride,
humility offsets righteousness
and we sync ourselves to
the striking balance of delight,
the just weights of sacrifice.

An Enigmatic Easter
The Easter eggs nest in their cups, new life all in a row?
No, no, sweet babe, no chickies here, no chickies here will grow.
I know it’s hard to understand; these eggs are not yet done;
You’ll dip them in the colored dish and dye them one by one.
T’morrow we’ll take them to the church and have them blessed by God,
On Sunday when we crack their shells you’ll see it’s been no fraud.
Tonight, sweet babe, rest well and sleep, the eggs will be outshone;
On Easter day our comfort comes, the Lamb’s Resurrection.
Holy Thursday (II)
I wash their little feet
in a simple white tub
where the water is warm
and they want to stay forever.
Lavender and frankincense
rise with the steam
where love is taught
and patience comes with service.
The towel is soft,
the lotion soothes,
and now their eyes
shine with stars,
unbroken light from
the ages, how it shines
brilliant in my eyes,
washing away all our mistakes.
